Adv. V.K. Prasanth
MLA from Vattiyoorkkavu Constituency. Served as Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation from 2015 November to 2019 October. Elected as Councillor of Kazhakkoottam ward in 2015, Adv. V K Prasanth had become the youngest Mayor of Kerala's largest Corporation,Thiruvanathapuram.
Adv. V.K. Prasanth former Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation has been elected as MLA of Vattiyoorkavu Legislative Assembly Constituency through by elections held in 2019.
Adv. V.K. Prasanth is popular as ‘Mayor bro’ across the State of Kerala and beyond for his leadership skills.
Hailing from an ordinary family in Kazhakkuttom Adv. V.K. Prasanth is active in politics since his college days. He represented Students Federation of India during his studies and is active member of Democratic Youth Federation of India. He became member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 1999.
He is a practicing lawyer since 2006. He was elected as member of Panchayath in 2005 and served till 2010 representing CPI(M). He contested from Kazhakkuttom ward of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation in 2015 and got elected with highest margin of votes polled.
When he was assigned the post of Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation in 2015, he was the youngest mayor of largest Municipal Corporation in Kerala.
His positive attitude, inclusiveness and principles based on left ideology helped him to wade through politically turbulent weather in city administration. As a staunch follower of CPI(M), he gave his best to discharge the duties assigned to him by the party and served the public.
He mobilized thousands of youth in Thiruvananthapuram for flood relief activities during the great flood of 2018 and 2019 in Kerala.
